DCO day at Enoggera Barracks
April’s DCO Family Day was great success where visitors and families of serving personnel enjoyed a relaxing day together, while getting to know what’s available and from whom. On the day, Everyman’s was represented by Scott Grant-Woodford, Richard Gibson, John Turner, Susan Nitz and me (Dean Cooke). Our stall included a functioning brew truck, a sit-down area, some literature and items of advertising.
On-hand, we had some million-dollar notes (gospel tracts), which created great interest and conversation. (These million-dollar notes have a similar look and colouring of our Australian $100 bill). The million-dollar notes have a digger on the face with the reverse side posing some challenging questions about eternal life.
While staffing the display table, I spotted our Federal Treasurer, the Hon. Wayne Swan with his minders walking our way. Too good an opportunity to miss, without delay, I offered him a note, stating that I’d like to contribute one million dollars to the recovery of our federal budget. I then offered the slightly puzzled Treasurer, a million-dollar note, which he received in good humour, making some brief comment before heading off.
Never missing an opportunity… Rep. Dean Cooke
